A New Playground for Genevive

What an amazing turn out of helpers to create a playground for our wee princess Genevive!

Genevive suffers from a metabolic disorder called methylalonic acidemia. This is a protein metabolism disorder which leaves her blood gases very acidic. despite a strict and monitored low protein diet, this acidotic state is very difficult to control and during periods of un wellness it causes severe damage to her brain function which has put her on the autistic spectrum. She has not yet developed any spoken words. Furthermore there is damage to her liver and kidneys. Genevive is at chronic end stage renal failure. Despite all of these obstacles she is a very bright, energetic and happy little girl. She is at her happiest when she is allowed to run, climb and explore. Swinging, sliding and swimming are her autistic 'safe' places and help to calm her. This outdoor play area is a dream come true. With this lovely play area that is all for her, it will take a lot to wipe the smile off her face!

A massive thank you to all those that helped on the day and the wonderful people that fed them.  A special thanks to Kiwiplay Playgrounds and Tricky Trees for their contributions.
